My Montessori Curriculum
Here you will find my Montessori based curriculum. I have tried to explain everything as much as possible, and will include photographs in the classroom or of materials as I can. Many materials, if not found here as links or downloads, can be found elsewhere on the Internet. If in question, I suggest doing a search for the keywords of the items I talk about. There are many Montessori resources available, and I feel that, along with my website, you will have the availability of everything you need. I suggest going in order by week. But, realistically, you can start anywhere if you are just looking for information. This is can also serve as a guide, as it is important to follow the child. If you are a homeschooler and your child is wanting to continue on a subject, take it to different levels! Even in the classroom it is important to observe if the children are interested and learning the things you are discussing. One time in the classroom, the children were always wanting to make paper airplanes, and so we decided to expand on this and learn about planes for the next few days. Enjoy!

Week 1 Lessons
During the first week of school we get familiar with teachers, students, the classroom and each other.
Week 2 Lessons
During this week I will talk about character education as well as feelings. They are not organized by particular days as the remainder of the curriculum is, so choose when you would like to implement these ideas during the week.
Week 3 Day 1
Today Geography lesson will be about globes, land, air, and water. In Science we talk about living/non-living and plants/animals.
Week 3 Day 2
In Botany we will talk about the importance of plants and what kinds of things we get from them. We will be discussing how we began to grow and make self-portraits of how we look now.
Week 3 Day 3
Today's lessons include Botany and Geography. We look at the inside of seeds to discover parts of the seed: seed coat, embryo, baby plant. We also consider Globes - Identifying continents, oceans, and the equator.
Week 3 Day 4
Today we learn about the classes of vertebrates in Zoology and parts of the body in Science.
Week 3 Day 5
Today in Geography we will review the continents and also introduce the Hemisphere Map.
Week 4 Day 1
The vertebrate group of Mammals will be our focus today in Zoology. We will be learning about the parts of a seed in our Botany lesson.
Week 4 Day 2
The five senses will be talked about in Science today and in Geography we will have a review of the continents, hemisphere, cardinal directions, etc.
Week 4 Day 3
We focus on one the five senses today, sight. In Zoology we learn about herbivores, carnivores, and omnivores.
Week 4 Day 4
Today we focus on the sense of smell in Science and talk about water mammals in Zoology.
Week 4 Day 5
In Science we will talk about the sense of hearing and learn some words in sign-language. We will read about marsupial mammals in Zoology.
Week 5 Day 1
We will focus on sunflowers in Botany today and talk about the sense of touch in Science.
Week 5 Day 2
The apple harvest will be our focus today in Botany. We then get to learn about our sense of taste and do apple tasting for our Science lesson.
Week 5 Day 3
Music lessons will begin today. An introduction to different kinds of instruments will be highlighted.
Week 5 Day 4
Science lesson on Autumn and Botany lesson on bulbs.
Week 5 Day 5
In Zoology we will talk about bats, the flying mammal. Spanish is introduced with Spanish colors.
Week 6 Day 1
In Geography we will discover passports and travel to North America. We will look at the harvest and scarecrows in Botany.
Week 6 Day 2
In Science we will talk about our skeletons. Travel and transportation will be discussed in Geography.
Week 6 Day3
Vertebrates continue with the fish group. Parts of the flag and flags of North America will be discussed in Geography.
Week 6 Day 4
We will talk about the different parts of a plant in Botany and focus on the roots. In Science we will talk about our muscles.
Week 6 Day 5
We will review the fish group and talk about cold-blooded in Zoology today. In Botany we will look at stems.
Week 7 Day 1
Today we look at animals, places, and plants of North America in Geography. We will add the brain to our body outline in Science.
Week 7 Day 2
We are going to talk about hot air balloons today in Science.
Week 7 Day 3
In Geography we will look at North America and where we live. In Science we will talk about the heart and lungs and add them to our body outline.
Week 7 Day 4
In Science we will be talking about our blood and review Spanish colors
Week 7 Day 5
We will learn about the artist Georgia O'Keefe today and finish the body outline with the digestive system.
Week 8 Day 1
We will visit Hawaii today and talk about air and bubbles in Science.
Week 8 Day 2
We will be looking at why leaves change color in Botany.
Week 8 Day 3
We will talk about fish in Zoology and review transportation in Geography.
Week 8 Day 4
We will talk about parts of the plant and pumpkins today in Botany.
Week 8 Day 5
We talk about sharks in Zoology today and review pumpkins and parts of the plant in Botany
Week 9 Day 1
We will be looking at primary and secondary colors in Science today. Vertebrates continue with the amphibians.
Week 9 Day 2
We will be visiting Mexico in Geography. In Science we continue with colors.
Week 9 Day 3
We will be talking about Frida Kahlo in Geography today. In Science we will have fun with dyeing foods.
Week 9 Day 4
We will discuss a little bit more about amphibians in Zoology and to continue with Mexico we will learn some of our numbers in Spanish today.
Week 9 Day 5
We will review Mexico and for an art activity, we will make "plato de colores"
Week 10 Day 1
We will talk about lily pads in Botany and review our bodies in Science.
Week 10 Day 2
We are going to visit Canada in Geography.
Week 10 Day 3
We will be looking at our globe and talking about the Arctic Circle area today.
Week 10 Day 4
In Science today we will make color spinners and have a review in Botany.
Week 10 Day 5
A review of vertebrates; mammals, fish, and amphibians.
Week 11 Day 1
We start talking about Nutrition today in Science and South America in Geography.
Week 11 Day 2
We will be looking at birds in Zoology today.
Week 11 Day 3
In Botany we will look at parts of a tree and in Geography we visit Chile.
Week 11 Day 4
We are going to talk about fruits in Science today and will learn the Spanish name of some fruits.
Week 11 Day 5
Toady we will look at bird feathers in Zoology. In Science we talk about some tricky fruits in Science.
Week 12 Day 1
Today we look at vegetables in Science, which relates to parts of a plant in Botany.
Week 12 Day 2
We will talk about bird nests and eggs in Zoology today. In Science we learn about seed and tuber vegetables.
Week 12 Day 3
We look at some land forms in Geography today and for a Science Extra we will make 'dancing raisins'.
Week 12 Day 4
We talk about bird beaks and songs in Zoology. The Artist we will talk about today is Paul Cezanne.
Week 12 Day 5
Today in Zoology we talk about owls and have a review of the Vegetable-Fruit food group in Science.
Week 13 Day 1
We talk about rivers, lakes, and streams in Geography today. In Science we discuss the water cycle.
Week 13 Day 2
In Zoology today we begin reptiles and in Botany we review trees.
Week 13 Day 3
We begin to talk about the Dairy group in Science and in Geography we learn more about land forms.
Week 13 Day 4
Today we continue with reptiles in Zoology and review land forms in Geography.
Week 13 Day 5
We will continue with the dairy group today and make 'purple cows' for a snack. We will also talk about why things float in Science.
Week 14 Day 1
South America plants, animals, and places are discussed in Geography. We begin talking about the grains in Science.
Week 14 Day 2
Today we talk about crocodilians in Zoolgy and review grains in Science.
Week 14 Day 3
Today we look at lizards in Zoology and talk about three famous Renaissance artist.
Week 14 Day 4
In Science we talk about the protein food group and lizards continue in Zoology.
Week 14 Day 5
Today in Science we review the four food groups and will begin talking about dinosaurs in Zoology.
Week 15 Day 1
In Geography we will be talking about the Amazon Rainforest and dinosaurs continue in Zoology.
Week 15 Day 2
We continue with the rainforest and experiment with hydrated and dehydrated in Science today.
Week 15 Day 3
We are going to be visiting Africa in Geography and discuss hibernation in Zoology.
Week 15 Day 4
Today we will talk about different animal habitats in Zoology. We will also learn some animal names in Spanish.
Week 15 Day 5
In Botany we will be talking about evergreen trees and experimenting with water and wax in Science.
Week 16 Day 1
In Science today we will talk about pond habitats and make pictures using candles.
Week 16 Day 2
We will be looking at different plants, animals, and places in Africa. We will also talk about Impressionism Art today.
Week 16 Day 3
We will be talking about Africa today in Geography.
Week 16 Day 4
Today we will be talking about patterns and lines. A review of pond habitats will also be discussed.
Week 16 Day 5
Today we will talk about lines and symmetry.
Week 17 Day 1
We will be talking about desert habitats today in Science and have a review of all colors, numbers, and animals for Spanish.
Week 17 Day 2
Today in Geography we will talk about Egypt. We also learn about Claude Monet.
Week 17 Day 3
Today we will be talking about forest habitats.

Today we continue with Egypt in Geography and talk about foreground, middle ground, and back ground in art.

Today we will talk about the artist Renoir and Cassatt.

In Science today we will begin to talk about weather and in Botany we will look at the cotton plant.

Today we will talk about wind in Science.

We are going to be making color dyes using plants and dye some fabric pieces.

In Botany today we will be talking about paper. We will also begin to look at the orchestra and composers.
Week 21 Day 2
Today we will be talking about animals in the winter and discuss the stringed instruments of the orchestra.
Week 21 Day 3
Today we look at clouds in Science and woodwind instruments of the orchestra.
Week 21 Day 4
We are going to talk about rain and rainbows today in Science and review Spanish weather words.
Week 21 Day 5
Today we look at the artist Paul Gauguin and learn the name of some kitchen things in Spanish.
Week 22 Day 1
In Botany we will talk about wood and other things we get from trees. In Music we will now discuss the brass section of the orchestra.
Week 22 Day 2
Today in Science we will talk about storms and continue with the orchestra in Music.
Week 22 Day 3-5
During the remainder of this week we are going to review some of the many lessons learned so far this school year. The Story of the Orchestra will continue in Music.

In Geography today we will begin our visit to Asia and we discuss our teeth in Science.

We talk about invertebrates today with focus on spiders.
